Dave Bautista Shuts Down Lex Luthor Casting “Superman: Legacy” Rumors

Rumor has it James Gunn connected with an actor in regards to playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman: Legacy while on The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 press tour. Many fans have speculated that Dave Bautista is the potential future Lex Luthor. Unfortunately, Bautista took it to ComicBooks.com’s Instagram yesterday to break the news that he was not the actor in mind.

In the video, influencer Chris Killian brought up a whole list of different potential actors for the upcoming Kryptonian film. Killian then brought up the Bautista rumors and jokingly stated that the conversation between the actor and James Gunn involved the former threatening his loved ones. This point was emphasized with a video from Bautista’s pro wrestling press conference making this promise to a rival. Bautista responded with his own joke saying, “Nope! No conversation! No hurting people!”

While the Lex Luthor rumors began to spiral so did the Superman rumors, soon a whole fan-made cast list was predicted. Gunn has to take it to Twitter to clear the air:

Fans can expect to see the movie in theaters on July 11, 2025. As of what we know, the film will feature Superman’s earlier days living on a tiny Kansas farm and possibly exploring his own Kryptonian heritage.
