Darren Aronofsky is known for his dramatic, dark, and sometimes emotional movies. His filmography includes Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, mother!, Noah, The Wrestler, and The Whale. Now, Aronofsky is taking a different step with his upcoming movie.
He told Empire “The state the world’s in right now…There’s a lot going on. So, I wanted to get back to the core ingredients that make movies great – entertainment and fun. I wanted to make something filled with joy and adventure.” He liked the fun aspects of the movie such as the twists and characters. He declared the movie “a romp.”
Caught Stealing is based on a Charlie Huston novel by the same name. Variety gathered the logline that reads “Hank Thompson, a former baseball player who ‘unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a dangerous struggle for survival amidst the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City, forced to navigate a treacherous underworld he never imagined.’”
Austin Butler will play the role of Hank Thompson. Other cast members include Zoë Kravitz, Bad Bunny, Matt Smith, Regina King, Vincent D’Onofrio, Action Bronson, Liev Schreiber and Griffin Dunne.
You can catch all the action in Caught Stealing when it hits theaters on August 29. Until then the trailer from Sony Pictures is available below.
