Rotten Tomatoes revealed that Daniel Kaluuya will not be part of the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Kaluuya’s absence from the Black Panther sequel is due to scheduling conflicts with Jordan Peele’s thriller Nope, which is coming out on July 22. Kaluuya played W’Kabi, Okoye’s husband and T’Challa/Black Panther’s best friend.

The shooting of Black Panther 2 faced many obstacles along the way. In August 2020, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman passed away from colon cancer at the age of 43. The COVID-19 pandemic obstructed the filming process even more, as several cast members had positive COVID tests on set. Actress Letitia Wright also suffered an injury involving a stunt rig in August 2021, which caused production of Wakanda Forever to eventually shut down in November 2021 after the team had filmed as much as possible without Wright.

Despite all these challenges, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still set for release on November 11th, 2022.
