Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling (La La Land) are gearing up to collaborate once again on Universal’s Neil Armstrong biopic, First Man; with Gosling is to portray Armstrong. Unlike his first two massively successful and Oscar-winning features, Chazelle will be seated in only the director’s chair on this project. The film is reportedly based on a biographical book titled First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong. Seeing as Armstrong is a public figure, we’re unsure of what specific aspects in the biography the film will draw from in order to classify it as an adaptation. The film will focus Armstrong’s journey toward becoming the first man to step foot on the moon, and will take place between the years of 1961 and 1969.
A hard release date hasn’t been set, but both the film’s production and potential release are slated for sometime in 2018.
