Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts to Star in ‘The Sound of Metal’

Rising stars and A Bigger Splash co-stars Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl) appear set to team up for the drama The Sound of Metal. The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Darius Marder, who previously co-wrote the screenplay for Derek Cianfrance’s 2013 film The Place Beyond the Pines and directed the 2008 documentary Loot.

In the film, Johnson is being tapped to play a singer in band where Schoenaerts serves as the drummer. The drama of the film unfolds as the drummer starts to lose his hearing and must reconcile with his this will shape and alter his future. No distributor appears set for The Sound of Metal but filming is planning to go underway sometime this summer.

Both Johnson and Schoenaerts team up following quite busy years. Johnson rocketed to fame with her portrayal of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey and is set to continue for the next two installments. She also recently appeared in Black Mass and will soon be seen in the comedy How to Be Single. Schoenaerts appeared in the period dramas Far From the Madding Crowd and The Danish Girl. Both actors will soon be seen in A Bigger Splash opposite Tilda Swinton (Trainwreck) and Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel) due in theaters this May.
