Daisy Ridley recently expressed interest in joining Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia, but fears the role might already be taken by an actress Gerwig has worked with before, Screen Rant reports.

Based on the classic book series of the same name by C.S. Lewis, it follows a group of four British children who accidentally find a doorway to a magical realm. The Netflix production is a reboot of the story after the 2005 Disney adaptation of the first entry, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, directed by Andrew Adamson. The Adamson version was followed by two sequels, Prince Caspian and The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader before further films in the attempted franchise were cancelled due to lowering box office grosses.

Now with Gerwig’s version in development, Ridley, in an interview with Collider, expressed a desire to work with her but fears that because of frequent collaborator Saoirse Ronan, who previously starred in Lady Bird and Little Women, it most likely won’t be in Narnia, saying:

“I was like, ‘Ugh, it’s gonna be Saoirse Ronan.’ And do you know what, I’m such a huge fan and of course she’s gonna be absolutely amazing…I just feel like [Gerwig]’s so brilliant with actors, and the fact that actors keep working with her again is such a testament to her. I love her movies.”

Greta Gerwig’s reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia is currently scheduled for release in theaters on November 26th, 2026.
