MCU fans might finally get the age-old question answered: who bought the Avengers tower?
D23 Brazil hosted a special look at several teasers of future Disney-owned projects, and Marvel definitely delivered their share. The upcoming team-up film Thunderbolts* presented a short teaser, showcasing the full roster of Marvel’s newest band of anti-heroes.
The teaser opens with Florence Pugh’s Black Widow assassin character, Yelena Belova, alongside fellow MCU alums David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Hannah John-Kamen as Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, and Ghost, respectively. The team leads a vehicle pursuit and are quickly joined by Sebastian Stan’s fan-favorite character Bucky Barnes, AKA the Winter Soldier. A meeting is also held at the iconic Avengers tower, which Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character reflects on as “monumental”, though expensive.
Rounding out the “Thunderbolts” (the name Red Guardian gives to the team) is Black Widow‘s Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Lewis Pullman as a newcomer only referred to as “Bob”. The teaser makes it known that the group is made up of morally grey characters, with most having dealt with fatal operations in the past or serving as villains to the more heroically aligned Avengers.
Though brought together as a team, the characters’ sour attitudes and physical quarrels suggest that the Thunderbolts fighting together might do more harm than good.
Thunderbolts* will be released on May 2, 2025, ending the MCU’s Phase Five slate of movies. The film will follow February’s Captain America: Brave New World.
