According to The Hollywood Reporter, Director Craig Gillespie is currently in talks to take charge of the latest Supergirl project, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, joining other directors, such as James Gunn and Andy Muschietti to round out DC Studio’s latest slate of projects. Gillespie is known for other notable projects such as Disney’s Cruella, Neon’s I, Tonya, and Hulu’s TV series Pam & Tommy. Gillespie’s most recent project was Dumb Money starring Paul Dano.
Talking to reporters early last year, Gunn said, “We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, raised on a rock, a chip off of Krypton, and who watched everyone around her die and be killed in terribe ways for the first 14 years of her life and then come to Earth.”
The new film will star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. This latest project will have a disparate take on the beloved character that many audiences may be most familiar with from the CW series as its inspiration will come from the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The creator for this project’s script is Ana Nogueira and there is currently no release date set for the project.
