Could the Super Hero Blue Beetle Get His Own Movie?

It has just been announced that another DC super hero will be getting his movie debut. According to the Wrap, the young teen hero known as the Blue Beetle will be getting his very own solo movie.

In the comics many at least three different characters have used the super hero moniker, Blue Beetle, including Dan Garret, Ted Kord, and Jaime Reyes. This upcoming movie will use the Jamie Reyes incarnation of Blue Beetle. Jamie Reyes was introduced in 2006 and he is a young Latino teenager who lives in El Paso Texas. Jamie Reyes found a mystical scarab that came from outer space. The scarab fuses to his spine and gave him super powers. As Blue Beetle Jamie Reyes gains a high tech blue super set, which comes equipped with a variety of weapons and allows him to fly.

While not the most popular super hero Blue Beetle has made several appearances in video games and in animation.

The Blue Beetle movie will be directed by Puerto Rican director Angel Manuel Soto, who directed Charm City Kings which recently came out. It has also been revealed that the movie’s script will be written by Mexican writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote Miss Bala and the remake of Scarface. Soto
