Lionsgate is currently working on making a movie adaptation of the Borderlands video game franchise. The Borderlands movie will be directed by Eli Roth, who directed movies like Cabin Fever, Hostel, and The Green Inferno. According to Comic Book Resources actor and comedian Kevin Hart is being considered for the lead role in the movie. Hart is of course well known for starring in the two recent Jumanji movies.
If Hart is cast in the movie he would play a former Crimson Lance member named Roland. In the first Borderlands video game Roland is one of the four playable characters called Vault Hunters. Roland also appears in the second Borderlands game as a NPC. It has already been confirmed that actress Cate Blanchett will be playing the character Lilith. In the video games Lilith is a siren and she is also one of the other playable Vault Hunters.
The first Borderlands video game came out in 2009. The plot of the game takes place on a planet called Pandora in the year 2864 AD and follows four Vault Hunters, Roland, Lilith, Brick, and Mordecai, who are searching for a mysterious vault. Along the way the Vault Hunters encounter characters including the robot Claptrap.
As of right now this movie does not have a release date.
