The Addams Family franchise has been recreated in almost every kind of entertainment format, from the original comics to live-action and animated TV shows, movies, and even a musical. The franchise will be receiving its first CG-animated film, and its director has officially been selected. Conrad Vernon, the director behind films like Shrek 2 and his most recent Sausage Party, will be manning the directorial reins for the film, according to Variety. Currently, no details have been revealed about the plot of the film.
The film has been in discussion since 2013, when it was revealed that it would be written by Corpse Bride scribe Pamela Pettler, but has recently been taken over by writer Matt Lieberman. Vernon will be overseeing the animation process in Vancouver.
The only information we have been able to find about the plot is that it will obviously be focusing on the Addams family, which include Gomez and Morticia, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, the other off-the-wall family members like Uncle Fester, Cousin It, and Grandmama, and their wonderful butler Lurch. As development furthers, we hope to see more details in the coming weeks on potential actors that will be bringing these roles to life once again.
