The film Coming 2 America, the long awaited sequel to the 1988 original Coming To America, has released an official movie poster, showcasing all the characters that will appear in the film. The poster has Eddie Murphy in the center of the photo, alongside star-studded cast including Arsenio Hall, Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Leslie Jones.
The original film starring Murphy and Arsenio was a huge hit in the 80s, grossing $128 million at the box office. It told the story of Murphy’s character Prince Akeem, who to escape an arranged marriage, flees to America, alongside Semmi (Arsenio Hall), in order to find his queen. It’s been over thirty years since the original film, and the sequel will explore the newly-crowned King Akeem and his side-kick Semmi embarking on a new adventure to Queens to find Akeem’s long lost son.
According to the trailer and poster, Coming 2 America appears to not stray far away from the original comedy of the first film. It has the same goofy humor that Murphy and Hall are known for. According to Screenrant, the sequel is rated PG-13, which could be a possible issue, since the original was rated R. Due to the pandemic, Coming 2 America will not be in theaters but is set to be released on Amazon Prime on March 5th.
