Comedic Legends to Appear in ‘Toy Story 4’ as Abandoned Toys

The Toy Story series is well known for its extensive cast of big name celebrities. Whether it’s one-time performances like Kelsey Grammar’s Stinky Pete or main protagonists like Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Pixar always manages to obtain some recognizable faces for their movies. With the 4th installment around the corner, they’re now expected to include a few appearances from true comedic legends.

It was recently announced that four iconic comedians- Carol Burnett, Mel Brooks, Betty White and Carl Reiner- will briefly cameo in Toy Story 4 as abandoned toys. Their names will be a combination of the actors and the toy’s animal forms, including Melephant Brooks, Bitey White, Chairol Burnett and Carl Reinerorceros. These actors have had some voice acting experience during the past decade, including White in The Lorax and Brooks in the Hotel Transylvania movies. However, it’s uncommon to see all four appear together, especially in one of the most recognizable animated franchises of all time. Yet they all seem rather happy to cameo, with Reiner mentioning that “To be represented by a cute little toy character is not the worst thing in the world.”

It’s unknown how long these cameos will last, but it’ll likely add to Toy Story 4‘s star power, Director Josh Cooley drew inspiration for the characters through his experiences with his kids, stating “Sometimes toys fall in and out of favor. I look at my own kid and stuff that was the favorite toy yesterday is now in the closet.” Woody’s interactions with them will likely add to the world building and exploration of what it is like to be a lost toy.

Toy Story 4 will be released on June 21st 2019.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
