‘Colony’ and ‘Midway’ Writer Wes Tooke to Write MGM’s ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake Starring Michael B. Jordan

For a third time, the drama The Thomas Crown Affair is getting a remake, though it’s been a while since the last one came out. Deadline confirmed the news Wednesday that the writer behind USA Network’s drama Colony and Roland Emmerich’s WWII film Midway, Wes Tooke, will write the latest remake for MGM.

So far, Michael B. Jordan has been the only actor cast to star in Thomas Crown Affair. Jordan will also produce the film with his Outlier Society banner.

Joe and Anthony Russo are also on board to produce the film with their AGBO banner.

The last remake of The Thomas Crown Affair came out in 1999, and it starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. It followed Thomas Crown (Brosnan) as a rich playboy who likes to steal art as a pastime but finds his match in the detective Catherine Banning (Russo), and the two rapidly fall in love with each other.

It wasn’t until 1968 that the first film, The Thomas Crown Affair, came out, and it starred none other than Steve McQueen himself as the debonair thief Thomas Crown.

It is unknown what role Jordan will play, but it doesn’t sound so far-fetched that he wouldn’t play the role of Thomas Crown, like who else could play that role?

Tooke is currently writing the script for an untitled monster project from Universal and Channing Tatum on board to star.
