Colin Trevorrow‘s time-travel script Stealing Time may see the big screen, thanks to DreamWorks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Pixels screenwriter Tim Dowling has been attached to write a new draft of the project, which languished at Columbia for the last seven years.
Trevorrow’s script centers on three generations of scientists unlocking the secrets of time travel while simultaneously trying to keep the technology from falling into the wrong hands. Columbia had initially tapped Walt Becker (Wild Hogs) to direct, but Becker is not attached to the DreamWorks revival.
Treverrow directed the monster blockbuster Jurassic World for DreamWorks, whose head Steven Spielberg was instrumental in re-activating Stealing Time. Treverrow has also been announced as director for Star Wars: Episode IX.
In addition to his screenplay for Pixels, Dowling’s credits include the comedies Just Go For It (starring Pixels‘ Adam Sandler) and This Means War (which starred Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon). Treverrow will executive produce Stealing Time, with Bob Cooper and Charles Segars producing. Cooper and Segars have been attached to the project since its days at Columbia.
