Rich Peppiatt, director of Kneecap, is helming an new revenge thriller for Netflix titled Bad Bridgets. The new cast members for the film include Colin Farrell, Charlie Heaton, Domhnall Gleeson, and Steve Coogan. They join the previously announced leads of Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver. The film was inspired by the history book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick. The book explored a time where many Irish emigrants were deemed troublemakers and outnumbered men in prisons. The logline for the film reads, “When a mysterious letter offering escape leads a young Irish woman to 19th-century New York, she is pulled into the unruly world of the Bridgets, where mayhem follows in her wake.”
Alongside the bigger names, Himesh Patel, Niamh Algar and Simone Kirby join the cast. It is of course directed by Rich Peppiatt, with him also serving as a producer and screenwriter. Filming is expected to begin in mid-July. No release window has been set for the film yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
