Clip from ‘Big Sur’ Revealed

Although (or possibly because) the film is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, a recently released clip of Big Sur, directed by Michael Polish (Twin Falls IdahoThe Astronaut), is causing quite a buzz for the adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s renowned novel by the same name.

The film stars Stana Katic (Castle, Quantum of Solace), Jean-Marc Barr (Breaking the Waves, Europa), and Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns, Blue Crush), who also happens to be the director’s wife. The quasi-biographical tale of this seminal Beatnik writer, whose protagonist goes by the name of Jack Duluoz, details yet another spasmodic rambling travel adventure undergone by Jack and his motley crew of intellectuals, this time taking place in the picturesque Big Sur region of California’s central coast.

Kerouac diehards will be able to see the film starting November 1st, and although Ketchup Entertainment (the film’s U.S. distributor) has already released a number of official theatrical trailers, the following clip does well to illustrate not only the ghostly, nostalgic visual ‘look’ of the film, but also its uniquely tumultuous pacing which accompanies, and compliments, the protagonist’s worsening psychological unrest.

And speaking of clips worth checking out, Blue is the Warmest Color, Cannes Palme d’Or winner, recently released its own, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the reportedly unscrupulous directorial practices of Abdellatif Kechiche.
