Christopher Nolan has added four actors to round out his cast for his adaptation of the ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey. Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Elliot Page, and Himesh Patel join the supporting cast of the Universal production adaption. While these additions to the cast are new, a good portion of the included actors have worked with Nolan on different projects.
These four newcomers to the project are not as new to the film world itself. Irwin has had parts in 2023’s Rustin and TV shows like Third Rock From the Sun and The Dropout. Morton has two Oscar nominations under her belt for her roles in 1999’s Sweet and Lowdown and 2002’s In America. Page is also an Oscar nominee, having earned one for his role in 2007’s Juno, and has had a leading role on Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. Patel recently rose to stardom when he starred in the 2018 Beatles-influenced film Yesterday, while also having roles in the HBO series Station Eleven and The Franchise, from which he had a leading role.
Irwin collaborated with Nolan on his 2014 sci-fi epic drama Interstellar, having played the voice role of TARS the robot. Page worked with Nolan on his 2010 film Inception, where he starred as an architecture graduate student. Patel will be reuniting with Nolan as well, having had a minor role as Mahir in 2020’s Tenet. These four actors make up a star-studded cast that includes Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, who was added earlier this week, and Charlize Theron.
While Universal has no comment on the castings yet, the production studio has described the epic adaptation as a “mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.” Along with confirmation that the film will be released in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.
