In a New York Magazine interview, actor Christopher Abbott (Catch-22) admits his casting as Professor X was a bit of a “dream and a nightmare”. His casting was announced at D23 last month for the X-Men reboot. “I think I started walking out pretty enthusiastically, and then I kind of felt like a lot of people there didn’t know who I was, so then my energy shifted within the split second. I was a little bit more humble about it,” Abbott said. Professor X serves a teacher for the X-Men and a recruiter. His telepathic powers is how he reaches other mutants across the world. “I almost did a fist pump when I walked out, and then I felt like the applause was muted. So I was like, ‘I’m just going to walk out and nod.’ It feels almost like a video game, or a dream. Not like a good dream. It’s a bit of both—a bit of a dream and a nightmare,” Abbott shared.
More casting keeps being announced for the reboot of X-Men. So far the confirmed actors are, Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Kit Connor (Heartstopper), Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Inde Navarrete (Obsession), newcomer Maya Boyd and Adam Driver (Marriage Story).
