Chris Hemsworth Shares His Thoughts On ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Marvel has been taking heavy hits from Marvel Universe fans due to films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamnia, which earned the worst reviews in the Marvel Universe and this was troublesome because it marked the next phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When Thor: Love and Thunder hit theaters Marvel fans weren’t the happiest with the results.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor) is aware of the negativity that surrounds the fourth installment of the Thor films, which is Thor: Love and Thunder. The film was a box office hit acquiring $760 million worldwide, but Marvel fans weren’t keen on the writer-director Taika Waitit’s humor and visual effects throughout the film.

Hemsworth revealed to GQ magazine that Thor: Love and Thunder was witty. He confessed, “I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly.” Hemsworth addressed that the biggest critics were his son’s friends. He stated that just because movie doesn’t attract the audience doesn’t mean he’s opposed to reprising the role of Thor. At the moment Hensowrth is not contracted for any Marvel movies.

Marvel gained loads of criticism from top filmmakers, like Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino. Scorsese talked about Marvel having a negative impact on the exhibition and Tarantino spoke out about how Marvel is incapable of creating movie stars. Hemsworth shared his thoughts on such comments.

I’m thankful that I have been a part of something that kept people in cinemas. Now, whether or not those films were to the detriment of other films, I don’t know. I don’t love when we start scrutinizing each other when there’s so much fragility in the business and in this space of the arts as it is…I say that less to the directors who made those comments, who are all, by the way, still my heroes, and in a heartbeat I would leap to work with any of them. But I say it more to the broader opinion around that topic. I don’t think any of us have the answer, but we’re trying.
