Chris Hemsworth has been extremely busy starring in a multitude of Marvel films as Thor, but he also stars in a film or two every year, where he has played in a variety of roles from a race car driver in Rush to a goofy secretary in Ghostbusters. He is now leading a special forces team into war in the new film 12 Strong, which has just released its new trailer:
12 Strong focuses on the story of Captain Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), the new leader of a special forces team that is being deployed in Afghanistan after the tragedy of the 9/11 Twin Towers terrorist attack. The team must work together with an Afghan warlord in an attempt to break down the Taliban, but difficulties arise when the small team of 12 (hence the name of the film) must confront the full force of the Taliban militia.
Hemsworth stars alongside a solid supporting cast including Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Midnight Special), Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street, Dumb and Dumber To), Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge, Detroit), and Michael Peña (End of Watch, The Martian). Nicolai Fuglsig will be picking up the directorial reins with a script by Peter Craig (The Town, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay). The film is set to release on January 19, 2018.
