Chris Hansen Reacts To The ‘Primetime’ Trailer, Questions “Hollywood’s Motive”

Former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen recently reacted to his portrayal in the upcoming A24 film Primetime. After watching the official trailer for the film, he said, “It looks dramatic. It looks very dramatic. I know [Robert Pattinson] is a popular actor, and I know the director [Lance Oppenheim] is a popular guy. I also have some questions: What’s Hollywood’s motive here?” He did note that he will reserve judgement until after he sees the film.

In the interview Hansen revealed that he was not talked to about the film until after it was done. “A couple months ago, they came and said, ‘Hey look, we’re doing this, we’d like you to have some sort of consideration in terms of helping us with this.’ As a reporter, it’s sort of silly for me to talk about something that I haven’t seen yet. My suspicion is that they used my name because it helps in a commercial enterprise.”

Robert Pattinson plays the role of Chris Hansen in the film, and Hansen actually said who he would have cast if his version of this movie got made. “Years ago, I had crafted a script and thought Denis Leary would be a good guy to play me — depending on the age of it all.”

Primetime hits theaters on September 25.
