Chris Evans Joins Star-Studded Crime Thriller ‘My Darling California’

Chris Evans in 'Materialists'

Chris Evans has replaced Josh Brolin in writer-director Elijah Bynum’s crime-thriller My Darling California. The news comes as a result of Brolin’s scheduling conflicts. Evans is most known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America and has recently been seen in 2025’s romantic-dramedy Materialists from A24.

My Darling California, which is set 1980’s Los Angeles, will see how one crime interweaves the lives of several different people across the city including a TV host and his wife, a country music artist, and a handful of criminals all on the pursuit of making it big in the City of Angels. The film co-stars Academy Award winners Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Mikey Madison (Anora), as well as Chris Pine (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Charles Melton (May December), and Don Cheadle (I Love Boosters). Filmmaker Elijah Bynum is most known for his work on Magazine Dreams starring Jonathan Majors.

My Darling California is eyeing a late summer shoot and is set to seek out international sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. Chris Evans will next be seen in December’s Avengers: Doomsday.
