The hit video game Battlefield is slated to come to the big screen, with an all-star cast at the helm. Set to direct is action movie icon Christopher McQuarrie, with Michael B. Jordan on board as producer.
The string of Battlefield games started back in 2002, with the first title being Battlefield 1942. The most recent entry in the series, last year’s Battlefield 6, was the best selling game of 2025, selling well over 10 million copies of the game.
Hollywood Reporter noted that, although the crew is already taking shape, a distributor has not yet been finalized. Meetings have already taken place, reportedly with Apple and Sony, thanks to sources close to Hollywood Reporter. Others were slated to take place, but it’s unclear as to what other studios are in the running to nab the project.
As stated, McQuarrie is a prime selection to bring the game to the big screen. When it comes to directing, he’s been responsible for all the Mission: Impossible films since 2015’s Rogue Nation. All four of those films have become major successes, both critically and commercially, becoming major staples of the action genre.
It’s presently unclear if Jordan will be headlining the film, but reports indicate that him starring isn’t entirely out of the question. He’s already produced several hit films, however, including Creed III and Just Mercy.
