The neighborhood is getting crowded! Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) has signed on to the upcoming sequel Neighbors 2.
Moretz, who got her start as Hit Girl in the Kick-Ass franchise, has recently appeared in The Equalizer and Clouds of Sils Maria. Neighbors 2 marks her first foray into comedy.
Zac Efron (Dirty Grandpa), Seth Rogen (Steve Jobs) and Rose Byrne (Spy) are signed to reprise their roles from the original, which centered around a suburban couple adjusting to life as neighbors of a rowdy frat. No plot information has been issued as of yet, but rumors are circling that the frat is being replaced by an equally outrageous sorority. Moretz’s role and storyline have yet to be revealed.
Helmer Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek) repeats his duties from the first film, directing from a script he’s co-writing with Rogen, Andrew Jay Cohen, Brendan O’Brien and Evan Goldberg.
The first Neighbors was a surprise hit last year, finishing the year as 2014’s highest grossing comedy with a worldwide take of $269 million. Universal is aiming for a May 13, 2016 release.
