Tomi Adeyemi‘s best selling young adult novel Children of Blood and Bone has officially been confirmed to be developed as a movie by Lucasfilm in partnership with 20th Century Studios. Adeyemi is a Nigerian-American writer known for her young adult fantasy novels. Children of Blood and Bone tells the story of a young heroine Zélie Adebola who tries to restore the magic in her kingdom of Orïsha. The 2018 book is Adeyemi’s debut novel, and is the first in a planned trilogy. The second book in the trilogy Children of Virtue and Vengeance came out in 2020 and the third novel is expected to released in 2021. According to Screen Rant, Disney confirmed the adaptation of the novel on Disney’s yearly Investor Day.
Previously Dope director Rick Famuyiwa was set direct, but it has not been confirmed if he is still attached to the film. Famuyiwa does have a relationship with Lucasfilm due to the fact that he directed many episodes of The Mandalorian, so it is possible that he will stay as director on Children of Blood and Bone. No actors are yet attached to the film, but hopefully over the next few months, more news will drop about Children of Blood and Bone.
