It has been said a movie should never reference another film better than itself. That may not be a problem for David Zellner’s upcoming film, Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter – which has received rave reviews after premiering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The film was inspired by the true story of a Japanese woman who died in Minnesota; supposedly, she watched the film Fargo, believed it was a true story (as it claims to be), and went looking for the buried money. Rinko Kikuchi (Pacific Rim) stars as the titular treasure hunter.
