The first trailer has arrived for Nicholas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon. Refn, who previously directed the cult hit Drive (2011) and Only God Forgives (2013), returns with his latest, a Los Angeles-set thriller. Refn also co-wrote the film alongside Mary Laws and Polly Stenham. The horror-thriller stars Elle Fanning (Somewhere), Keanu Reeves (John Wick), Christina Hendricks (Drive), Jena Malone (Inherent Vice), Abby Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle).
In The Neon Demon, Fanning portrays Jesse, an aspiring model who moves to Los Angeles. Upon arrival, Jesse’s youth and vitality are seized on by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what they want from the ingenue. Amazon Studios is in charge of the film which earlier this morning was announced to make its world premiere at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The film will mark Refn’s third consecutive movie to premiere in competition at the prestigious film festival – in 2011, he won the Best Director prize for Drive.
The film is primed for theatrical release sometime this June. Check out the trailer below:
