Check Out the Trailer for ‘A Hologram for the King’ Starring Tom Hanks

The first trailer has arrived for A Hologram for the King, a new drama starring two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Bridges of Spies). Directed and written by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), the film is an adaptation of the novel by Dave Eggers.

The film centers around failed American business Alan Clay (Tom Hanks) who looks to recoup his losses by traveling to Saudi Arabia and selling his idea- “a three-dimensional holographic meeting system”-  to a wealthy monarch. Ben Whishaw (Suffragette), Tom Skerritt (Ted) and Sarita Choudhury (Homeland) co-star. The film is slated to hold its world premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.

Hanks last appeared on screen in Steven Spielberg’s Cold War drama Bridge of Spies (Mark Rylance recently picked up an Academy Award for his performance) and has top-lined an eclectic mix of films in recent years including the Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks. He also recently appeared in Cloud Atlas, film that was co-directed by Tykwer. His upcoming slate is equally impressive, including the Clint Eastwood bio Sully, the thriller The Circle (another Eggers adaptation), the drama Ithaca (directed by his Sleepless in Seattle/You’ve Got Mail co-star Meg Ryan) and Inferno, where Hanks will reprise his The Da Vinci Code/Angels & Demons character Robert Langdon.

A Hologram for a King is scheduled for theatrical release on April 22nd. The film is a co-release of Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. Check out the trailer below:
