A new poster was shared by the official Twitter account for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, along with a teaser that a “fantastic” announcement will be revealed soon.
Star Eddie Redmayne’s magizoologist character, Newt Scamander, is seen contemplating the 1926 New York skyline, backlit by the sun, a magical wand glowing at his left side, and a small suitcase at his right. The poster reads “J.K. Rowling invites you to a new era of the wizarding world.” Rowling, the author of the 7 Harry Potter fantasy novels, penned the screenplay in her first solo script. The cast includes Ezra Miller (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Colin Farrell (The Lobster), Ron Perlman (Hellboy series), Gemma Chan (AMC’s Humans), Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs), Samantha Morton (Miss Julie) and Oscar winner Jon Voigt (Deadly Lessons) along with fellow Oscar winner Redmayne (The Theory of Everything).
In the story, Scamander, after being expelled from Hogwarts, travels to New York with a suitcase containing the titular creatures. Some of the beasts manage to escape and scatter on the streets of NYC, triggering Scamander’s urgent mission to find them. Meanwhile, he must avoid attracting the attention of muggles – known in the U.S. as “No-Maj” (non-magical Americans).
David Yates, who directed four of the eight Harry Potter films, helms the highly anticipated Fantastic Beasts for Warner Bros., which bows November 18th.
