“I know what you are. I know where you came from. Would you like to see?” So slithers the dulcet voice of Kaa in a featurette for Disney’s upcoming live-action reboot of The Jungle Book. Voiced by Scarlett Johansson (whose vocal performance in the tonally different Her earned the actress wide acclaim), the menacing snake offers a portal to the past of protagonist Mowgli (played by newcomer (Neel Sethi) in Disney’s promo of the film’s forthcoming IMAX debut.
Jon Favreau (Iron Man) directs the project, a re-imagining of sorts of the Disney’s beloved 1967 animated feature based on the stories of Rudyard Kipling; Justin Marks (Unbroken) penned the screenplay. The latest featurette also includes footage of Bagheera (voiced by Oscar winner Ben Kingsley), Shere Khan (voiced by Idris Elda), King Louie (voiced by Oscar winner Christopher Walken), Raksha (voiced by Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o) and Baloo (voiced by Bill Murray). The vocal cast also includes Giancarlo Esposito and the late Garry Shandling.
The Jungle Book opens in theaters on April 15th.
