Universal has released the poster and first trailer for Pitch Perfect 2, its follow-up to the surprise 2012 hit that will reunite the Barden Bellas a capella group while throwing some new faces into the mix.
The original film followed Barden College’s Bellas as they tried to reinvent their sound on a quest to triumph at a national collegiate a capella championship. The sequel finds the group testing the waters of international competition, vying for a world title that has never been won by an American team. Anna Kendrick (Into the Woods), Rebel Wilson (Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb), and Anna Camp (The Help) return for this installment, as does Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1). Banks also serves as director this time around, working from a script by Kay Cannon, based on the non-fiction book by Mickey Rapkin.
Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (The Homesman) joins the cast as Emily, a new member of the Bellas, with Katey Sagal (TV’s Sons of Anarchy and Married With Children) appearing as Emily’s mother. The film, from Brownstone Productions and Gold Circle Films, is slated for a May 15, 2015 release.
