George Clooney, who previously worked with the Coen Bros. on O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Intolerable Cruelty (2003) and Burn After Reading (2008), plays bumbling movie star Baird Whitlock. Baird’s disappearance- just as production on a big-time swords and sandals epic is underway- puts everything in jeopardy at Capitol Pictures. Josh Brolin, who co-starring in No Country for Old Men, plays the studio fixer.
The sprawling, starry ensemble cast includes Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher), Scarlett Johansson (Lucy), Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer), Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street), Christopher Lambert (Mortal Kombat), Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) and Mrs. Joel Coen- Frances McDormand (Almost Famous).
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) was the last feature written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen to release. Since then, the duo received screenwriting credits on Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Bridge of Spies. Hail, Caesar! opens in theaters on February 5, 2016.
