Charlize Theron May Re-Team With Director Jason Reitman

Fans of the dark comedy Young Adult rejoice as Deadline dropped the news that actress Charlize Theron, director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody may be joining forces yet again for an upcoming film. The trio collaborated on the 2011 dark comedy which earned Theron both Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations and Cody a Writer’s Guild nod for her screenplay and has since earned a cult following.

The upcoming film doesn’t yet have a title both appears to be centered around motherhood. It’s unclear in what stage of development the film may be in; it may be still quite early on. The Oscar winning Theron, especially, has a fairly heavy roster of upcoming projects including The Huntsman Winter’s War which is set to arrive in theaters on April 22nd. The actress is also soon to appear in Sean Penn’s The Last Face (which is rumored to play at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival), recently wrapped the thriller The Coldest City, filming the drama American Express and is rumored to join Fast 8 currently in pre-production. Theron last starred in the Oscar winning Mad Max: Fury Road to great acclaim.

Reitman’s last film was the 2014 bomb Men, Women and Children – he earned Oscar nods for directing the 2009 drama Up in the Air with George Clooney and the 2007 comedy Juno starring Ellen Page. Cody, who won an Oscar for writing Juno, would be collaborating with Reitman for the third time if plans work out. She wrote the Meryl Streep vehicle Ricki and the Flash (2015) and was announced as the screenwriter for the upcoming Barbie film due in 2017.

We shall stay tuned.
