Paul Feig’s upcoming Netflix movie, The School For Good and Evil, has added Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington alongside already announced Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso. The School For Good and Evil is based on a young adult fantasy book series from Soman Chainani. Theron will play Lady Lesso, and Washington will play Professor Dovey in the movie.
The story follows best friends Sophie (Caruso) and Agatha (Wylie), who are destined to live out their fairytale ending, must go to school to learn if they are good or evil. Through her princess dreams, Sophie knows in her heart that she is meant to go to the School of Good and join the ranks of former students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her dull black hair and a wicked black cat, would be a perfect fit for the School for Evil. The two girls soon learn that their fortunes reversed, and now Sophie is at the School for Evil to take on Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training. At the same time, Agatha finds herself in the School for Good thrust among handsome princes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication classes. The girls must ask themselves, what if the mistake is the first clue to learn who Sophie and Agatha actually are?
“I know what school I’m applying to,” Feig wrote Friday on Twitter to announce the casting news. “So thrilled to welcome Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington to the School for Good and Evil! Everyone, prepare to get schooled!”
The series has six books, the first book being The School For Good and Evil, which has sold over 2.5 million copies and translated into 30 languages across six continents.
