Chadwick Boseman (Captain America: Civil War) can add another biopic to his filmography as the actor has been cast to play Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Judge, in the biopic Marshall. The film will be directed by Reginald Hudlin (The Ladies Man).
The film will reportedly follow Marshall’s early career where he defended a chauffeur who filed a suit against his wealthy employer over sexual assault and attempted murder. Marshall partnered with a Samuel Friedman, a young lawyer who never tried a case. The pair faced a prejudiced court during the trial that received sensationalized trial.
Boseman, who will be seen next as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, first drew notice for playing Jackie Robinson in 42 and later played the singer James Brown in Get On Up. No other casting announcements have been made.
