Celebrating Robin Williams’ Birthday

What would have been comedic and cinematic icon Robin Williams’ 69th birthday was on Tuesday, July 21, and fans and celebrities alike celebrated with a number of touching posts remembering the actor, who shockingly and tragically committed suicide on August 11, 2014.

Actors such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, John Stamos, and George Takei commemorated Williams on Twitter, as well as many other prominent members of the entertainment industry. Williams’ daughter, Zelda, 30, announced that she would be donating $69.69 to “as many homeless shelters as I can” to honor her late father. In perhaps the best way to honor him, she also wrote that she wishes “you all at least one hearty, immature belly laugh on Dad today.”

Users on Twitter shared some of their favorite images and memories of Williams, remembering his iconic legacy while also advocating for mental health services and aid.

Fans can share in this laugh by watching one of Williams’ many legendary comedies, such as Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Flubber (1997), Night at the Museum (2006) and many more. Among Williams’ other virtuoso performances outside of comedy include Good Will Hunting (1997), Dead Poets Society (1989), Patch Adams (1998), and Awakenings (1990).

Do yourself a favor and try to watch one of the many Williams’ masterpieces this week in celebration of his birthday.
