Betty White’s 100 birthday is fast approaching, and to celebrate, she is inviting her fans to see her on the big screen for one-day only.
Betty White: 100 Years Young – A Birthday Celebration will be held on January 12, 2022, the day of White’s centennial, and will be available for viewing in 900 cinemas around the country. Fathom Events announced the special event on Thursday.
White granted unique access to filmmakers Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein in order to create 100 Years Young. The event will provide insight into the beloved actress’ behind-the-scenes existence, her connection with her office workers, and her work as an animal advocate.
The film will feature major milestones in the actress’s long career, including her roles in the hit comedies The Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland, The Proposal, hosting Saturday Night Live, and a remarkable lost episode from White’s first comedy.
White’s pals, including Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood, Jimmy Kimmel, Morgan Freeman, Carol Burnett, Craig Ferguson, Jay Leno, Valerie Bertinelli, James Corden, Wendie Malick, and Jennifer Love Hewitt make cameo appearances in the 1-hour and 40-minute film.
“We didn’t want this day to pass without bringing together all the people that love her, from her co-stars and friends to her many millions of fans of all ages, to celebrate her 100th birthday with an entertaining and loving look at what makes Betty a national treasure,” said filmmaker Boettcher in a statement regarding the special event.
Screenings will commence at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time. Tickets for the event are currently on sale, with ticket prices at $13.38.
