Cartoon Network’s ‘Steven Universe’ Getting the Movie Treatment This Fall

Cartoon Network’s hit show Steven Universe came to an end earlier this year after five successful seasons. However shortly after the series finale aired it was announced that Cartoon Network would be making a movie based on Steven Universe which is simply titled Steven Universe: The Movie.

An official trailer for the movie has already been released. The trailer reveals that the movie will take place two years after the series finale. After defeating White Diamond and reforming the Gem Homeworld the titular character Steven Universe, who is now 16 years old, is living peacefully with his father and the other members of the Crystal Gems on Earth. Then suddenly the Earth is attacked by a strange new Gem with an upside down heart shaped gem. This Gem plans on destroying all life on Earth, and Steven and the Crystal Gems must stop her.

The Steven Universe show’s original voice cast will be returning to reprise their respective roles including Zach Callison as Steven, Estelle as Garnet, Michaela Dietz as Amethyst, and Deedee Magno Hall as Pearl. However it is still unknown who will be voicing the movie’s antagonist, or even what the antagonist Gem’s name is. At Comic Con this year Estelle and Zach Callison performed the first song on the movie’s soundtrack “True Kinda Love.” Steven Universe: The Movie will be released in fall of this year.
