As if Avengers: Infinity War didn’t already have cast loaded with more talent than you could shake an Infinity Gauntlet at, they’ve just stacked the deck with more star-power. Carrie Coon, who you may recognize from such fine television programs as Fargo and The Leftovers, and from The Post, has joined the cast of the latest Avengers mega-movie.
Variety broke the story after directors Joe and Anthony Russo outed Coon in an interview with Radio Times, a British magazine. The actress confirmed her participation in the film on Twitter:
Coon is providing the facial motion-capture and voice for Proxima Midnight, a computer-animated supervillain who is a member of the Black Order, a squad of hench-aliens who work for the Mad Titan Thanos. She is super strong, super fast, mostly super-invulnerable, and she has a bad-ass super-spear (created from a star that Thanos trapped in a quantum singularity) that is rumored to have taken down The Hulk in one timeline or another.
Aside from Infinity War, Coon can currently be seen in The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter, along with Josh Brolin (who plays Thanos in Infinity War) and Danny McBride. Later this year she will also star in Kin (featuring James Franco and Dennis Quaid), and Widows, which is directed by Steve McQueen, and boasts an all-star cast including Liam Neeson, Jon Bernthal, Colin Farrell, Garret Dillahunt, Viola Davis, and Robert Duvall.
