Though last year Chris Evans had announced he had no plans to return to his iconic role of Captain America, today Deadline reports that he may be returning after all. After Cap’s story was wrapped up in Avengers: Endgame, it is unlikely he will lead any new Captain America films, but may make smaller appearances in other franchise pieces though no titles have yet been specified.
Nothing is set in stone, as the deal is not yet finalized according to the report. More doubt has been prompted now that Evans himself posted on Twitter, seen below, after the report was released. Marvel studios also have not confirmed the news.
News to me🤷🏻♂️

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded beyond the film format and into streaming with Disney+, the options for Cap to return are much more varied. WandaVision is premiering on the site this week, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki arriving in the next few months. Anthony Mackie’s Falcon was set up to take over the helm of Captain America in Endgame, so we’ll find out when the new series arrives whether or not that will be followed through.
Evans said last year in an interview about the possibility of returning to the role, ““You never say never. I love the character. I don’t know.” The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a history of finding ways to surprise fans, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
