‘Captain America’ Actress Charged With Second Degree Murder of Mother

Mollie Fitzgerald, who had a small role in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, has been charged in the death of her mother. The actress was arrested Tuesday and charged for the second degree murder of the 68 year-old Patricia Fitzgerald, who had been stabbed and found dead in her Olathe, Kansas home on Dec. 20.

In addition to her minor role as “Stark Girl” in the first Captain America film,  Fitzgerald also served as an assistant to its director Joe Johnston. She told ComicBookMovie.com in 2011 that it was “one of the best experiences of [her] life,” adding that her part in the production was “small.” She is also listed as a producer and director for other various films on her IMDB page, including 2018’s Trouble Is My Business and 2017’s The Creeps.

Fitzgerald is currently being held in jail on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Thursday afternoon. Her mother was currently in the process of moving back to Kansas City according to her brother Gary Hunziker, who told the Kansas City Star he knew little about her death, stating he was “shocked,” and that “It doesn’t matter the circumstances — the loss of a sister is what it’s all about.”
