Buenos Aires’ Compañía de Cine Swoops on Gender Doc ‘The Way You See Me’

A Buenos Aires based production company named Compañía de Cine or Lembel has taken over the right for director M Sin Titulo’s new queer documentary titled The Way You See Me or Como Tu Me Ves in spanish. Compañía de Cine will also co-produce the film alongside Paula Zyngierman from Maravilla Cine and Mexico’s Ojo de Vaca.

The documentary portrays an attempt to demystify gender’s narrow dominance over society, this sensitive and raw film as told in Variety by M “reveals the artifice that exists to mould us into one gender or another. Above all, the inquisitive social surveillance in place to preserve them.”

The story reflects on a profound journey, the story elicits a conversation about gender-affirming nursing and the social pressures that encourage someone to stay in a body never felt like their own.

The project, which is currently in production, is the director’s first feature film. A multi disciplinary artist who has explored the boundaries of the body, gender and identity in his previous work, his art has graced the Spanish Cultural Center, Salon Silicon, U Tópicas Galería and Loot Gallery Mx.

There is no set date on when the documentary will be released.
