In an interview with Variety, Brie Larson has confirmed that plenty of the female stars of the Marvel franchise have gone to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige to tell him they want an all-female film.
In her interview with Variety senior correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, Larson admitted, “a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this. What that means, I have no idea. You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.”
After Avengers: Endgame gave fans taste of what a film like that could look like with many of the Marvel ladies (with the addition of Peter Parker) coming together to aid Larson’s Captain Marvel in getting the infinity gauntlet to safety, people have been craving more.
Marvel has recently started to feature female Avengers in their own films after Captain Marvel was a big hit at the box office this year with $1.128 billion. Next year on May 1, 2020, Black Widow will come out ten years after the character was first introduced to the MCU in Iron Man 2. In addition to this upcoming film, it was announced at D23 this year that Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will have significant roles in Thor: Love and Thunder with Valkyrie set to become the first queer superhero and Jane Foster set to be female Thor.
