Brie Larson Celebrates End of ‘Captain Marvel’ Production on Instagram

With Marvel’s extensive 2018 film roster wrapped up, all eyes turn to Captain Marvel with anticipation. After all, not only will this be Marvel’s first female-led superhero film, but the character has also been described as having powers beyond anything we’ve seen so far. Other than what is known about Carol Danvers from the comics, no details have been revealed regarding the movie so far, save for its extensive cast.

What we do know, based on Brie Larson’s Instagram feed, is that the film has finished production. Larson posted a captionless photo that featured the Captain Marvel clapperboard signed by its cast and crew, as well as a calendar with multiple days crossed off. The text under July 6 revealed it to be the final day of shooting, with the next day simply stating “home.” The film is currently set for a March 8, 2019 release date.

Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a 90’s Air Force pilot who gets her DNA fused with an alien species (known as the Kree) during an accident. As a result, she is granted superhuman abilities unlike any other hero in the MCU to date, to the point that she can move planets and likely match Thanos in strength. The film is co-directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck; it stars Larson alongside Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Lee Pace, Gemma Chan, and Djimon Hounsou.
