Brian Cox, Maude Apatow, And Aziz Ansari Among Many Filmmakers Added To Toronto Film Festival Lineup

The Toronto International Film Festival added number of films to the 2025 Gala and Special Presentation titles. Aziz Ansari, Maude Apatow, Bobby Farrelly, and Guillermo del Toro are a few of the filmmakers who will be premiering their films at the September 4-14 festival.

Good Fortune, written and directed by Ansari in his feature directorial debut, stars Keanu Reeves as “budget” guardian angel trying to save a lost soul (Ansari). The Lionsgate comedy also stars Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh. Another comedy, Apatow’s directorial debut, Poetic License, stars Cooper Hoffman, Leslie Mann, and Andrew Barth Feldman. It follows two college-aged men as they compete for the affection of a middle-aged mom.

Scottish Succession actor Brian Cox makes his directorial debut with Glenrothan. He and Alan Cumming star as brothers hoping to save their family’s whisky distillery. Del Toro’s Frankenstein, a Netflix production, stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth. Jonatan Etzler brings a comedy-thriller, Bad Apples which stars Saoirse Ronan.

First looks at Easy’s Waltz, the Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) movie starring Vince Vaughn as a lounge singer with a second chance who works with his old school entertainment manager (Al Pacino). First Nations/Cree filmmaker Tasha Hubbard’s Meadowlarks, also premieres with Michael Greyeyes (40 Acres), Carmen Moore (Blackstone), and Alex Rice (Run Woman Run) starring.

Documentaries include Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley documentary EPIC: Elvis Presley in Concert, and Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery about Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan’s all-female music festival, by Ally Pankiw (I Used To Be Funny), co-produced by Dan Levy and Elevation Pictures .
