It was reported on Saturday that Warner Bros. is looking at optioning the film rights to the book Bad Boys of Brexit. The book is actually just a collection of diary entries by Arron Banks, an insurance millionaire who funded the Leave.EU campaign.
The film would follow Banks, who ran the Leave.EU campaign, as well as Nigel Farrage, the eccentric and controversial politician who spearheaded the Brexit movement, along with other major players, as they campaign across Britain for their country’s departure from the EU. During the campaign, they used some crazy tactics to attract attention to their cause, such as 80s pop concerts and fishing boats, as well as their interactions with some major figures, such as American president-elect Donald Trump, which would all be detailed in the film.
A spokesperson for Arron Banks has this to say:
Effectively that book is like a screenplay so half the work has been done for them… ‘The Bad Boys of Brexit’ – the film. It [would be] a comedy.
Given what a mystery the whole Brexit event was to many Americans, this film could be an entertaining way to learn about just what happened to allow this historical event to occur. Stay tuned to see if the film gets off the ground.
We shall stay tuned.
