

For the weekend family films stay on top with Brave New World holding a 14 million dollar lead over The Monkey. Brave New World on 28 million for the box office for its second weekend beating the monkey which only took home 14 million despite being in second The Monkey has the strongest opening for studio NEON which will be dropping the next Osgood Perkins film later this year.
The Monkey’s opening also marks a success for the extremely niche horror comedy genre, which director Perkins described as being notoriously hard to sell to studios.
For 3rd came Paddington In Peru also in its second weekend for the domestic premiere after it’s earlier European premiere where it sat at the top of the box office there as well. Pennington In Peru brought home 6.5 million For this weekend adding to a domestic total of 25 million.
And fourth Dog Man sat With 5.9 million More for its grand total of 79 million that will likely inflate come streaming release and international release. Which is likely a much longer way off as Dog Man who’s only been in theaters for four weeks
While it may have landed at 5th for the domestic box office animated Chinese epic Ne Zha 2 is still carving its name in history destroying records left and right for animated films. For the American release it took home 4.4 million for its second week adding to its total of 15 million earned, but it’s total global gross is still climbing records sitting at 1.9 billion as of Febuary 23rd shooting past Disney’s previous record of 1.7 billion held by Inside Out 2 from 2024.
And sixth the Heart Eyes hype dies down a bit as Valentine’s and discount chocolate day has passed, with only 2.9 Million for its third weekend earned.
In seventh was Chhaava, which earned 2.7 million beating Disney’s Mufasa who sat in the eighth rank with only 2.5 million. Domestically though Mufasa has earned 245 million after 10 weeks in theaters.
Ninth place went to another newcomer to theaters The Unbreakable Boy which earned 2.5 million for its opening weekend. Rounding out the top 10 and 10th was One Of Them Days still hanging on after 6 weeks proving good comedy is worth it.
