Quentin Tarantino’s new film has already gained lot of steam when a couple of months ago, Leonardo DiCaprio signed on to his new project. For a long while, the film had been believed to focus solely on the Charles Manson murders, but Tarantino confirmed that the murders acted more as a backdrop for the film more than the main plot. Now, Brad Pitt has signed on to the cast of Once Upon Time in Hollywood, the title of the film recently announced by Tarantino, according to The Guardian.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will focus on the story of two men, an actor and his stunt double, who have become lost in a transitional period in Hollywood. Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth (DiCaprio’s and Pitt’s characters) are seeing the changes in a “hippy” Hollywood, and Rick looks to his very wealthy and well-known woman next door for her help. That woman turns out to be Sharon Tate, one of the biggest names in the Charles Manson family murders.
Currently, Margot Robbie’s name has been tossed around as a big contender to play Sharon Tate, but no official announcement of her casting has been made. Tarantino is directing and is writing the script himself. The film has a release date of August 9th, 2019.
