Ally, the newest film from Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-Ho, has proven popular at early screenings, receiving several offers to purchase. The film had already been bought by Neon for U.S. distribution prior to the Cannes Film Festival. Now, more sales have been made for the film, ensuring distribution in many other territories.
The sales included I Wonder Pictures (Italy), Plaion (Germany), YouPlanet Pictures (Spain), Madman Entertainment (Australia & New Zealand), The Searchers (Benelux), Pathé Films AG (Switzerland), Monolith Films (Poland), Feelgood Entertainment (Greece), Cinemundo (Portugal), Nachshon Films (Israel), Blitz Film & Video Distribution (Former Yugoslavia), Arthouse Traffic (Ukraine), A-One Films (CIS), Kino Pavasaris Distribution (Baltics), Vertical Entertainment (Eastern Europe, excluding Poland and the Former Yugoslavia), Marhudar Entertainment (Middle East & India), Shinesaeng Ad.Venture (Thailand), 66CC (Taiwan), and Filmbridge Mongolia (Mongolia).
Pathé is the production company behind the film, with Bong Joon-Ho of course directing. The film follows a squid who dreams of swimming to the surface to see the sun and star in a wildlife documentary. It features the voices of Ayo Edebiri, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Finn Wolfhard, Rachel House and Werner Herzog. The titular Ally is voiced by Alex Jayne Go.
It is expected to hit theaters in 2027.
